Did They want to Challenge Saint Pancras? Part 1
The following article is not a police investigation, but just a reflection following my discovery of many troubling material about the mysterious disappearance of a child in the French Alps

Émile Soleil, a 2 year old toddler, has been missing since July 8th, 2023
Saint Pancras is the saint of the children and the saint protector of Le Haut Vernet where Émile has disappeared. I'm led to believe that the Satan worshippers who had probably sacrificed Emile wanted to challenge Saint Pancras. But they are full of pride and forget that the martyrdom of Saint Pancras eventually led to the triumph of Christianity in the Roman Empire. What if Emile's martyrdom would also lead to a new triumph of Christianity and the rebirth of the Church?
One week after the discoveries of the remains of Émile Soleil, this two-year-old child whose disappearance in July 2023 in a hamlet in the French Alps made the headlines the following months, no one knows for sure what happened exactly to this child, but many troubling coincidences are to considered, one of them being the fact that Émile was officially declared dead on March 31st, the day of the celebration of Easter, the Resurrection of Christ, the day when the Christians rejoice about the resurrection of Our Lord, we are told that all hopes concerning Émile have vanished.
Le Haut-Vernet is the hamlet where Émile’s grandfather owns a country house and spends his holidays there. At the edge of the village, located in a meadow overlooking the mountains, a chapel was erected about 1,000 years ago in the Middle Ages. It used to be the parish church then but was abandoned for a new and larger church.
It was eventually repaired in the 1980’s and a statue of Saint Pancras was installed.
Pancras is a popular saint in Provence. In Manosque, a city north of Aix-en-Provence, a chapel dedicated to him can be found; another one is perched on a rock and overlooks Digne-les-Bains, about 20 miles from le Haut Vernet. The collegiate church of Saint Pancras in Aups, Var is another example and there are probably many more. Why Pancras is so popular in the region? It’s probably related to farming activities: Pancras is one of the Ice Saints, his feast is on May 12th, and the farmers would worship Pancras to have their crops protected from the cold spell notoriously known to be frequent at this period of the year.
Each year, the inhabitants of Le Haut Vernet gather to celebrate their saint but in a secularized and Masonic France, the spiritual meaning of the festival seems to be phased out. Proof of that is that people don't care about the accuracy of the date to celebrate Saint Pancras.
In 2023, weeks before Émile went missing, the festival was held on May 28th. In this region like elsewhere in Europe, the carnival is traditionally held on Fat Tuesday but now, carnivals held in the middle of Lent or even after Easter are far from being uncommon!
In this video, who many found disturbing when it was released a few weeks after the Émile case broke out, the narrator makes sarcastic comments and adds a creepy music, probably to warn us about the strange atmosphere of this local community and worrisome events that happened in the area. We will see later on that is actually the case.
The narrator, who hides under the bizarre nickname Il neigeait (it was snowing), evokes Saint Pancras, protector of children and animals. He guards the inhabitants who are making loaves of bread for the festival. We are told that “pious” people are attracted by the odour of the bread and that Saint Pancras, in front of such a scene is wondering wether if his martyrdom was worth it!
Il neigeait lives in Le Vernet, he films cats, nature and the surrounding villages which provides him with philosophical reflections. This man of fine literary knowledge seems to be Gnostic, like many people now, but the video La fête de Saint Pancrace shows that he grasps the spiritual malaise of our time: people taking the excuse of traditional Catholic festivals just for purely fleshly pleasures. In another video, he praises Émile’s parents and their Catholic faith. He guessed that authentic faith upsets the do-gooders and the political correctness of our time.
The ubiquitous mayor of Le Vernet
The apparent cheerfulness of the festival in Le Haut Vernet is hiding, like in many places, a feeling of malaise, that, despite the beauty of the landscapes and the villages, the atmosphere is gradually becoming unbearable, why?
Le Haut Vernet is one of the two parts making the commune of Le Vernet. Le Haut Vernet is on a plateau overlooking the other village located in a valley: le Vernet. The population is low (125) but probably holds one of the highest numbers of tragic deaths per capita in the world! In fact, the disappearance of Émile in July 2023 is the last of a series of tragedies and strange coincidences in the commune in a matter of only 15 years.
In October 2008, Jeannette Grosos, 68, the manageress of a bar in Le Vernet was beaten to death by a customer.
On March 24, 2015, it was the crash of the Germanwings Flight 9525. The plane actually didn’t crashed in the territory of Le Vernet but in a nearby commune: Prads-Haute-Bléone. But the rescue team was based in Le Vernet because it was easier to get to the accident scene from there.
150 people died in the accident. The bodies (often body parts including some never identified) were gathered in Le Vernet. Many people got involved in the rescue operation or welcomed the families of the victims in their homes. Helicopters roaring in the air could be heard for many days. Thus, people were reminded of that a rescuing operation aimed at evacuating torn up bodies was taking place.
It was a massive trauma for many.
At that time, many conspiracy theories circulated on the internet about the crash and Andreas Lubitz’s father denying publically that his son had no intention at all to commit suicide was troubling, to say the least.
François Hollande, president of France then and two heads of the two states the most stricken by the tragedy - Angela Merkel of Germany, and Mariano Rajoy of Spain - held a ceremony in the small city of Seyne-les-Alpes near Le Vernet. It was a great opportunity for local politicians to be at the forefront!
François Balique was first elected mayor of Le Vernet in 1977. Such a long term in office is far from being uncommon in the French communes. Many mayors were first elected in the post-war era in the late 1940’s and kept their position for decades, a mayor of Faucon-du-Caire, a village located in the same département of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence where Le Vernet is located, was first elected in 1945. Arthur Richier was only 24 then and remained the mayor of the village until 2014. It means that his term lasted almost 70 years! The fact is that in these underpopulated villages, few people would fit the skills demanded for this office.
Such feature of the local political life is common in many French areas. When political mandates can span several decades like royal reigns such as Louis XIV, one can imagine that the politicians, even mayors of modest little rural communes can set up a sophisticated network of relations for the interest of their own community and - very often - for their own interests and the interests of their families and friends. But of course, many are recognised as having done good to their own municipality and many are sincerely devoted to their own community and, to gain advantages for their unknown small villages, they often set up a political network. They most probably have no other choice considering the general corruption of the political life in France. This sad reality probably characterizes not only France but many countries in the world as well.
At first glance, Mr Balique is just an example of this. But many are increasingly disturbed by his ubiquitous presence in the French media now as he seems to be the mouthpiece of the whole population of Le Vernet. But what if his opinions are not representative of the population?
“The mayor of Le Vernet, who thinks he lives in La La Land, should be reminded of this.”
Is Le Vernet doomed? François Balique, currently the chief magistrate, dismisses it out of hand. “We can’t say that. This is life circumstances.” La Montagne
Really?
“The mayor should exercise restraint, he’s spending too much time giving interviews. - This is what is disturbing with him… Criminals like him enjoy being put under the limelight (I hope I’m mistaken)”
Of course, as I explained in my introduction, my intention is NOT to accuse anyone here but, nevertheless, let’s see the unusual résumé of the mayor.
“The mayor of Le Vernet is still plying his activity of a barrister specialised in the litigations of public markets, especially in the overseas territories. His office is in Paris. Among his clients, no less than Vinci Construction and Bouygues. It’s not exactly the profile of a farmer vouching for the preservation of biodiversity that one would have imagined in such a place.”
This is a comment on Facebook I found a few weeks after Émile Soleil went missing.
François Balique’s LinkedIn page confirms his activities as a barrister since 1974. We are also told that he works for the World Bank “expertise on the legal environment for motorway concessions in Algeria.”
In this same country, he was also an assistant in charge of a training seminar for senior civil servants in the 1970’s.
He also worked in Bamako, Mali for the “Legal feasibility study for the concession of a 3rd toll motorway bridge.”
Of course, none of these activities makes him a suspicious person but he probably met many people having important positions and influence.
recently, the media outlet Le Figaro published a thoroughly documented portrait of François Balique. He is introduced as a “key figure of the uncanny Émile case.”
As a matter of fact, this is an unusual profile for a mayor of a tiny village.
“Just crazy, this little corner deserves a movie.”
